INTRODUCTION
So you want to have a story told and a legend be made with your character? Good, that's the reason that Maria exists.
We're not your typical play-by-post forum, however. We're more akin to your traditional table-top-rpg, but online and with less dice rolling.
On Marea, every-single-thread is moderated by a Dungeon Master. From small quests to overreaching continent changing journeys. Every story that a player writes is guided by an appointed Dungeon Master.
To create less hassle in finding a Dungeon Master and other players for a story, we've created the Story Planning board. On this sticky thread, we'll explain the three methods by which you can get started on finding a role-playing group for your adventure.
STARTING AN AD
Number one is for you to post an ad where you can gather other players to a story idea that you've had.
You CAN be specific; although, it's best to be vague, as in "horror", "mystery", "romance", etc, etc. This is because a Dungeon Master is going to come along, and if they like to tell that genre of story, then they'll be crafting a story specifically for your character and the other characters who have flocked to your cause.
In general, DMs are going to know the lore of Marea much better, along with being granted the ability to take creative liberties with the game-world -- so whatever they present to you is going to be much more intriguing and lore-friendly that whatever a player him/herself will think up.
Maximum number of players allowed is five, unless a DM grants specific permission.
DUNGEON MASTER GATHERING PLAYERS TO YOUR CAUSE
You may do what is listed above, but allow a DM to find the other players that you'll need for the quest, based upon his knowledge of what other players would fit well.
DUNGEON MASTER AD
At times, a DM may post a story ad. A DM has ultimate choice as to who he allows in, how many, etc.
